Holiday Shopping Tips
Budget for Holiday Purchases
When planning your regular budget, save for the holidays. Then use those savings and create a holiday shopping budget. Do your best to stick to it.
Start Early
Don't put your shopping off until the last minute. Shopping early gives you time to think through gifts, avoid high shipping costs, and stress less.
Shop Alone
Make a shopping list and then go shopping alone to avoid making unnecessary purchases.
Shop the Sales
Hit the clearance aisle, and watch for sales and other bargains when you shop to maximize your savings. Consider shopping on Black Friday for more savings.
Use a Coupon
Check out a store's website before shopping to find exclusive in-store coupons, bargains, and more.
Comparison Shop
When possible, comparison shop. Look for quality not just brand name. Sometimes you may be surprised.
Shop Online
Skip standing in line by shopping online. Many websites offer exclusive online deals, free shipping, and other great ways to save.
Time Saving Tip
Take the time to make a list of everyone's sizes and preferences. Carry your list with you so you'll be prepared if you find a great bargain too good to pass up.
Read the Fine Print
Before shopping online, read the shipping policy. Do they offer free return shipping, or do you pay for all returns? Can you return or exchange an item to your local store or do you need to mail it in? What is required for returns?
